Roadside Pollinator Garden at the North End of the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum. An area approximately 50 ft long and 4 ft wide. Native plants were installed and a 1/2 pound of native wildflower seed spread. A layer of mulch will be applied later this week.
One of the long term goals of Project TRWA is to transform the grass area between the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum and E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy into a continuous Pollinator Garden mixed with trees. The start of that transformation started this past year and on Friday the TRWA Volunteers cleared and planted an area over 50 ft in length and 4 ft in width with a couple dozen native plants and 1/2 pound of Native Wildflower seed. A big thanks to all the volunteers for helping to start this transformation.

A few of us are working on our Pollinator Steward Certification (PSC) form pollinator.org and this is one of our class projects. We are demonstrating is required to put in a Pollinator Garden and also to hopefully provide the impetuous to others (businesses and residents) in Townsend to put in their own pollinator gardens. The gardens can be big or small but the idea is to give bees, wasps, flies, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds and other pollinators the native plants they need to survive and thrive.
If you have any questions about pollinator gardens please contact us.
We are in the midst of our 2025 Picnic Area Fund Drive to add even more enjoyment to your visit to the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum. If you like what we are doing even the smallest donation makes a difference. We provide all the volunteer work and all monies donated are tax deductible and go directly to the Picnic Area.
