Tuckaleechee Garden Club Members & Blount County Master Gardeners doing some magic at the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum.
There are times when you can't thank people enough for volunteering at the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum (TRWA) and Saturday, November 13, 2021 was no exception. Members of the Tuckaleechee Garden Club and the Blount County Master Gardeners teamed up for the final push to clear the TRWA of large pockets of invasive plants (Bush Honeysuckle, Privet, Euonymus and Mimosa). It was a huge success with only a couple small patches of invasives remaining. We used several methods to help to remove invasives which we have developed over the last few years and they seem to be doing the job and making the general maintenance of the TRWA much easier.
I would personally like to thank these volunteers: Martha Frink (TGC), Polly & Mark Holtkamp (BCMG), Crystal Lasky BCMG), Charlotte Miller (TGC, BCMG), Michelle Moyer (BCMG), Rodney & Allison Pearson (TGC), Theresa & Scott Schehr (TGC), and Mark Seder (TGC, BCMG).
The volunteers were provided a thank you picnic following the event to entice them to come back and join join us again for another event at the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum.
