Planting Group from Keep Blount Beautiful & the Tuckaleechee Garden Club at the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum
Got an email last month from Brittney at Keep Blount Beautiful asking if we would like some free native plants and trees through a program sponsored by Keep Tennessee Beautiful. It took less than a second to jump at the chance.
We selected over $500 of plants and trees provided by Tennessee Wholesale Nursery. The bare root plants came in looking great and on Tuesday November 2, 2021 a group from the Tuckaleechee Garden Club and Keep Blount Beautiful planted: River Oats, Fern Moss, Fan Clubmoss, Great Blue Lobelia, Red Cardinal Flower, Partridgeberry Plant, and Virginia Bluebell throughout the Townsend River Walk and Arboretum. What a great addition for our 2022 blooming season. The trees (Sassafras and Pawpaw) will be arriving in the next week or so and we will plant those at a later date.
Myself and the Tuckaleechee Garden Club can't thank our community partner, Keep Blount Beautiful, enough for their continued support of the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum and their continued efforts in Townsend Community. Join them and the Little River Watershed Association for the Little River Run 5K in Townsend on Saturday November 15, 2021. It is a great event for the Townsend Community. If you can attend please donate or volunteer your time to Keep Blount Beautiful and the Littler River Watershed Association.
