Meetings

Tuckaleechee Garden Club (TGC) meets at 10:00AM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church, 7300 Old Tuckaleechee Road, Townsend, TN, unless otherwise noted in the calendar.

Visitors and Prospective Members

Tuckaleechee Garden Club (TGC) welcomes visitors and prospective members who want to learn more about the club.  Our current members are from a variety of local towns and communities including Knoxville, Townsend, Maryville, Tuckaleechee Garden ClubWalland, Loudon, Friendsville, and Rockford, and our gardening acumen spans from novice to expert.    Our meetings begin at 10:00AM with a one-hour business meeting, horticulture exhibits and design competition.  The second hour is devoted to education usually provided by an expert presenter or hands-on activity.  Afterwards, club members gather for a pot-luck lunch and social time.  Our meetings are fun, informative, and delicious!

Dues are $20/year. The Club year is from April-March

Yellow Lady’s Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum)

The Yellow Lady’s Slipper belongs to the Orchid family.  The blossoms have a sac-like lip with the shape of a slipper or moccasin.  The Yellow Lady’s Slipper petals twist in a spiral, flowering in April and growing in the high altitudes of the Smoky Mountains.

The 2024 Tuckaleechee Garden Club Plant Sale at the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center.

The Plant Sale helps support the TGC Projects such as the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum, the Heritage Garden located at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center and future projects.

From 9 am until sold out.

This year we have:

  1. Native Plants and Trees
  2. We have obtained 10 Gregory Bald Azaleas that were propagated by Vivian Abney at East Fork Nursery.
  3. Large Selection of Vegetable Plants (Tomatoes, Peppers.....)
  4. Large Selection of Herbs
  5. From the Garden Shed there will be pots, tools, books, trellis and more!
